Is this the old whistle or the new one? A friend has two Santa Fe Northerns, one TMCC and one Legacy and says the TMCC sound is much better.

Thats the new Legacy version. Doug posted the video here on the forum back when the separate sale J's were delivered many months back.

From what I've "heard" regarding the SF Northerns the legacy version is correct, but it lacks the "fullness" of the TMCC version and possibly the prototype.

The MR s3 has a SF whistle. IMO the legacy S3 has a better sounding SF whistle than the Legacy SF northern. Thats for another thread I suppose

The Legacy J is a homerun in the sound dept.
