Need help with the class lights not working

Hello

I have a new old stock Lionel HUDSON 6-28072 with the class lights on the front. Everything works except the class lights . They are on for a little while then go out or flicker. Eventually they come back on. I am not strong in electronics and don't know what to look for. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The pic shows them off.
