BEWARE of going too deep with a needlepoint when power is applied to the track and/or smoke unit. Damage to the unit can occur! Many smoke units have resistors which are very easy to contact with a needlepoint. I shorted out the smoke unit on a Legacy Blue Comet by touching the smoke resistor with a needlepoint while power was applied.
