The 990 charging electronics are not close to current technology. If the batteries feel hot you are overcharging. I have never left my 990 on auto charge for that reason. I switch to charge when required for no more than 45 minutes and set my cell phone timer. Hasn't been a hardship so far and I stay out of trouble.
