The set is a 120th anniversary set so the idea is to throw back to traditional postwar sets with the warbonnet and OPERATING freight cars. Operating milk car and log car are included.  It is a very nice postwar tribute

So many anniversary sets, I get confused.

This was a proper one -- F-3s with aluminum passenger cars!

  • Holy diesel, what a set
  • It's bound to go into the history books as one of the greatest Lionel sets of all time, complete with TMCC too
  • Run one train with the ABBA. Or make up 2 trains; one with the powered A and dummy B, the other with the powered B and dummy A
  • 4 motors, 2 in the powered A unit, 2 in the powered B unit
  • Pullmor motors, magnetraction, and many other features available only from Lionel
  • Railsounds in one of dummy B's. Engineer figure, lights and electocouplers in dummy A and powered A
  • Couple 2 trains together into 1 with command control while moving, and seperate them without ever stopping
  • Aluminum cars include new overhead lighting, all have silver passenger trucks, Lighted Drumhead on observation car, overhead interior lighting, furnished interiors and standing and sitting people
  • Diner has Station Sounds. Set has railsounds, crew talk, TowerCom, large door aluminum baggage car (even has storage racks for mail/baggage transport, combo car, 3 full Vista dome cars and observation, and is 165 inches long
  • F3's have die-cast bases and trucks. B units include new die-cast bases not previously manufactured
