Seems you couldn't do very long trains as the pins going up through the logs is all that is supporting the pulling power and the light chains. Or is my thinking wrong on this. A logging train wouldn't need that many cars but my 7 yr old has been known to put many more cars (30+) in any order and I'm afraid they wouldn't survive.

The pins are steel and are sunk into the die-cast frame. You could pull a very long train without having to worry about having a problem.

 

Also - these cars fit Kadee couplers. They look nice with the scale coupler look.
