I noticed the hairline cracks too below the windows of the 6-83003 Diner. I still can't tell if its a crack or a casting mark. If cracked perhaps Lionel can issue replacement shells. But it may just be casting marks. These marks that looked like cracks were common on shells of original American Flyer PA Units...but were not cracks. See pics of 83003 crack and Flyer PA Unit.

Same thing happened on my diner. I tried to feel it closely and I couldn’t feel a crack. Not fully sure if it’s a crack or a tooling seem but it isn’t a huge issue for my diner because it’s not that noticeable and can only be seen when a light is shined on it.
