No the new BB are 2,200 where as the vl BB's are 2,700.
For those of us who have no purchase interest what is the difference between the versions?
From what I can tell the new version of 4014 is painted just like the prototype. This means the journal box lids on the tender and the trailing trucks are painted white. Next, Lionel even painted the Big Boy on the front smoke box door. On the inside it is way different than the vision line.
To start off, there is still going to be the whistle steam inside of it as well as the stereo sound system in it, but if you can tell by the price there are some things missing. Those things would be, the blow down steam effect and two separate smoke units for the alternating chuff. Also, since 4014 is an oil burner now Lionel could not do the depleting coal load, ( which is a rely nice feature). Finally, you know the red knobs on the engineer’s side, they will probably be gone since 4014 does not have hers anymore.
There you go I hope this gives you an idea what they both have and do not have. Maybe a few more years Lionel will make a live steam Big Boy in o scale.
