Hello John, welcome aboard, you have joined up with a great bunch of knowledgeable people and a great bunch of guys and gals.  As for me, I live in the arm-pit of Texas, far West Texas.  I don't know of any O gauge guys here in town but that's ok, I can live with it.  I don't have a layout either, not yet anyway but one is coming in the hopefully not to distant future.  I don't have a large collection either, I have a few postwar pieces and I like to run them when I set up a loop on my wife's Dept 56 display and that is when I run them.  I like to see the older stuff run as it reminds me of my childhood laying on my grandmothers living room floor with my Uncle and literally running the wheels off of his Marx SF F-3's or whatever they were, we ran the living daylights out of them.  Those were the days.  That is what got me interested in O gauge 3 rail.  My dad always bought me HO but deep down I really wanted a Lionel train set.  This was back in the early 50's.  So welcome aboard and have fun.
