Reply to "New Member- Old Train"

Well I found a picture of my original layout but I just don't know how to get it to upload.  It is a pdf file and attached below. If you click on the symbol in the attachments section and then select, "open link in new window" you can see the picture.  Sorry but after nearly an hr of pushing buttons (figuratively) I can do no better.  The train, pictured under the Christmas tree in 1947 is a bit of a mystery.  It most likely is set  2111WS as it contains a 671 PRR Steam Turbine, Whistle Tender, 3459 Dump, 2411 Flat (with pipes), 2460 Crane, and 2420 Work Caboose with searchlight.  I remember all of these very well but this picture is from 1947 so it is either the 2nd year we had the trains or my Dad bought a "left over" after Christmas in '46 and held on to it until '47.  The same or similar set in '47 had the new transformer car, which I can recall having but not until several years later.  The difference in the 46 set and the 47 set is that the transformer car substituted for the flat with pipes.  Since the picture, if you can get it up, clearly shows the flat and does not show a transformer car I have to conclude its the 1946 set.  How do I know this picture is from 47?  Well I have another with me in the picture and the layout is the same and I am obviously 3 years old not 2 (born in late 44).  The picture also shows a box car of some type but the angle does not allow it to be identified.  Likely just an extra car Dad bought along with the Gate Man, Bell Signal, and Station also shown. The Gate Man and Bell Signal are Lionel but the Station is Unknown.  Layout also has a  number of those cheap, paper, Japanese houses with the snow all around and the hole in the back for a Christmas tree light.

Anyway sorry for the SNAFU on the picture  but I hope you can pull it up.

Regards, Don
