New MTH NW J Class Loco stalls or shuts down

Hi all,

I’m looking for some advice on problem solving this issue. I just purchased this locomotive new and am running it for the first time. At 3 different points on my layout the locomotive stalls or goes into the shut down sequence. If the speed is high enough it jumps the gap and there is a loss in sound but it continues. At lower speeds below 12 mph it will stop and go into shutdown mode. It does it at the same spots. One is a switch, one a straight track and one on a curve track. This is running in DCS mode. I have a simple Fastrack loop and none of my other locomotives are having issues so I don’t believe it to be a system fault. Any ideas on what I can check? What I’ve done so far:

1. Lubricate locomotive as per instructions

2. checked and reaffixed wireless drawbar to heat audible click.

Thanks for any advice. It’s such a beautiful loco and kind of takes the wind out of your sails when it’s new and not working!
