New to hobby...What is a BCR Battery?

Hi Everyone finally acquired a MTH 10-1062-1 Baby Blue Comet ( Proto-1) before i start up was told to check/change battery-

But heard something about converting it to an MTH BCR type... Is that basically a rechargeable battery made for my train?
