John, that is the best advice and people should pay attention and do just that.  I see people often that will tell me the battery looked good.  One guy told me that and he  had a 19 year old battery and could not understand why things went bad.  I am not that smart to know the battery status, I still need a meter with a load imposed on the battery.

 

I remember a long time back on the forum some guy was being funny and told people he could touch a battery to his tongue and tell the voltage.  That was something else.  Nobody can top that one.
