THe RS and CM are separate, but what can happen is the Serial data may get degraded or corrupted. YOu have 2 boards in tender besides the mother board. One is the RS Board the other is the power Supply board for RS. I would disconnect Serial data from Cruise M. Also unplug 4 pin molex to prevent engine from moving. With out serial data you might get full speed. See if RS functions return. Also make sure RS/Signal Sound switch in RS position. If sounds return, the CCM is degrading serial data and you need a buffer. I assume if this is early 2000 with tether, the unit is RS 4.0. G
