Interesting and attractive cars,  but the Rheingold prototype reefer existed, and the Short's did not?

That's correct.  The Rheingold reefer is based on a prototype and the Short's reefer is a fantasy scheme honoring a current Northern Michigan brewery.

Here's some interesting information on Rheingold, including a picture of one of the prototype cars, of which there were only 4 or 5 used to transport the beer in the local area. Short's is a small craft brewery that didn't start making beer until 2004.
