Reply to "Question Answered--Northern Pacific North Coast Limited Lowey scheme white stripe spec."

Carl, according to the book “Northern Pacific Diesel Era”, the white stripe of the Loewy scheme was 2.5 inches wide at the rear of A units and all along B units. Looking at color photos of locos coupled to passenger cars, the stripe width on the cars appears to be the same. That’s all I could find in a quick look through my references.

Have you joined the Northern Pacific Railway TellTale group on Groups.io ??  That is the online discussion group of the NPRHA. It costs nothing and NPRHA membership isn’t required. I can think of several guys there, especially Bill Kuebler and Dean O’Neill, who should be able to answer your questions. Good luck!

An NPRHA member replied 50 minutes after I submitted my question via their website email.

It is, in fact, 2.5".  An NP F-3 A unit paint diagram was included in the member's reply.
