I like to keep the wick in my smoke units saturated overnight when I am not running the engines. I do this by placing a small piece of plastic, about the size of a guitar pick, on top of the smokestacks. Smoke fluid collects on the underside of the plastic, so I am guessing that there is a fair amount of evaporation going on! When I returned from a one week vacation, I removed the plastic and ran one of my engines with the smoke coming out just as though I had been running the engine earlier in the day.
