Thanks everyone for your comments. My son came over today and we solved the problem. It seems there was a factory error on the controllers-- LH controllers must have been packaged with 2 of the RH turnouts and a RH controller was packaged with one of the LH turnouts. I found this out by opening 5 of the "extra" switches I had bought new several years ago., and sure enough 2 of them had the wrong controllers. All work fine now, so I can get back to laying foam roadbed before doing final wiring.
