Overland Union Pacific U50C

Does anyone have experience with this model, it did not first run and it makes a lot of gear noise so I took the model apart to see what it looked like. I checked everything and used this grease Swiss made and the noise decreased more than half, this grease are used in clocks with fine gears. A belt transmission to the second fan was unfortunately not a option because it was broken and I don’t have them, the other one works. I don’t know if this a popular model for railroaders of the UP because of the gearbox also the same where the first run of gas turbines (Big Blow) from overland the same noise gearbox. Maybe someone has fix this with a hole new drive system I can do it also but for me is it a model I like it as the way it is weather it of course so you not see the damage paint any more.

These OVERLAND models are very nice and very detailed but are extremely poor runners. The SAGAMI can motor pictured in your model is one of the worst piece of junk available in the train market. Their gearboxes are not much better, either.

You could try replacing that motor with a 8xxx series PITTMAN or contact Jay Criswell and go for the ultimate propulsion system that he designed for these models. It is not cheap, but you will be happy with the results.
