Oil derrick question

I recently got a new MTH oil derrick for the layout and am now having a problem with the bulb. Each time I turn off the power to the layout and come back later and power up, I find the bulb has blown. This and 3 other accessories are hooked to postwar LW using 14 volts. Do I just have a bad bunch of bulbs or is there another reason why this continues to happen?

Any information on how to solve would be appreciated.
