Yep - that's what I assume totrainyard was talking about.

I have attached a more appropriate picture below. It shows the connection / the difference in tie width and color and a more controlled undercut of the Ross ties.

Since I can't think of a good reason to change the layout for a long time i have decided to add solder to the rail joiners to make sure they don't loosen up with use.
