Those rivets look so uniform its hard to imagine they aren't part of the original casting. I am not sure you can remove the front without removing the shell from the frame as the screw is usually underneath but if someone were to remove the front there should be evidence of a hole for the class lights on the inside too. I doubt they would smoothed that to match the interior surface if this was a patch job.
