Reply to "Over oiled commutator/brushes, how do I clean it"

I would get rid of the brass wire brushes and go to carbon both sides.

I have had good success with blasting the commutator with CRC electronic cleaner. Put the drive in a box or pan and blast away. The stuff evaporates pretty quickly.
