Just as a postscript, while doing a little research on the tail sign options I found this image of the CoLA sign on the CoSF car, which shows the neon lighting:
Not sure that I will try to model this as it would mean cutting away part of the diaphragm on the rear of the car to install it. But if I did, the graphic would require a little work to blacken the background behind the lettering. A fiddly job but could certainly be done. I’d print the image on an inkjet printer transparent sheet and cut it to fit in the housing.
The shape would require multiple lights to illuminate the whole. Evan Designs make a track-powered set of four LEDs that I have used before for internal car lighting. This would allow three lights across the main horizontal part and one behind the “Domeliner” lettering.
