Dave, if you measure the resistance of the PS/1 and the PS2/3 couplers, you'll see a significant difference. The PS/1 couplers are around 6 ohms, the PS/2 couplers are about 2.2 ohms. In addition, in powering them with 12VAC, the PS/1 coupler draws 1.2 amps, the PS/2 coupler draws 2.7 amps! They are very different!
