pennants for an auto dealership lot

Has anyone strung a line of pennants for their O scale layout? Starting with a Walthers (now AtlasO) kit I'm creating an early 1950's Ford dealership and would like to have a string of pennants in the used car lot. Suggestions, how to tips, and photos would be appreciated.
