Post some pictures of those engines with the boiler off, here are some pictures the top 2 are from Greenberg's 77-92 era, the bottom 3 are Greenberg's PW era this should help you, by looking at part numbers pretty much the same other than magnatraction axles, I don't see why you couldn't put a PW motor in your MPC, I had issues with a 76 Rectifier replaced with a PW motor and runs great.  those turbines that I repainted were in bad shape they were so gunked up with fifty years plus of grease, breaking them all the way down and de greasing did the trick along with a good service. Hope this helps you Mark , call Jeff at the traintender he will guide you in the right direction maybe he has a motor.
