On our layout we have buildings from Clever Brothers and Pioneer Valley kits. If you do the folds correctly the buildings look good. You might consider cutting the tabs a tad larger than they are in the kits. Deeper and wider tabs are easier for little hands to grasp, fold, hold in place and glue. If you reinforce the sides with cardboard or foam board the building will be a lot stronger and easier to move.
