I started a similar fire on another thread referring to this discussion. After analyzing all the opinions, I'm going with 1/2" Baltic Birch under Homasote. Please- no cautions or lectures otherwise; that is the way it will be. There is a local plywood supplier here that has what I need for the usual crazy price, and it is what it is, period, dot.
