Polar Express Lionchief issue

Hi guys

my lionchief polar express from 2014 has come to a grinding halt, pun intended. I had suspicions that it was going to do this due to what seemed like a power drop but in reality, I believe the armature has been ground down by the gear. However, I can’t inspect what’s going on inside because I cannot figure out how to get the motor off the chassis. I’m pretty sure I know what I’m going to find if I can get in there. But any help or suggestions on how to open it up beyond taking the shell off would be helpful! Thanks.
