Reply to "Postwar Madison Cars: springs and replacing them"

Good advice from Dave. Remove car end, 3 screws, then slide hinge pin up enough to put new spring in. One side of the spring has an "L". Put that side against the inside of the vestibule. There is a little cutout for the "L", at the bottom, but don't worry if it is not in the cutout yet. Insert pin fully and leave the longer straight side of spring outside. Then work long side up, until you can get it behind the door. Then slide spring down until "L" is in cutout. Good luck,
