Its true that probably only a few J3a ever received classification lights even though in Al Staufer's book Thoroughbreds he did several drawings of J3a with classification lights as built. The same arguments were used 18 years ago on this forum when the 2000 J3a Hudsons were released. By 1946 they had a different feedwater system applied which changed their appearance as well as the PT tenders. Don't think you will find a photo of one change being applied without the other.
