TT,

A protosounds engine will not run if on initial startup you apply over 10 volts. Over 10 volts the electronics believe you are going to try some reprogramming, and it will just sit there waiting, just as you are describing. The key is to initially start the engine up with 6-8 volts, let it set for 5-8 seconds, then run it normally with the directioin button or using the throttle.
Try this and see if it helps. What is the model number on the end of the box?

ex: 20-xxxx-1 or 30-xxxx-1 or MT-xxxx-1
