Problem with new Lionel SD40T-2 - sku 84626

Hello,

I received my new Lionel SD40T-2 and I immediately had operational problems. I’m runing in Legacy, and when I get the locomotive moving it moves 1 to 4 feet and stops. If I do a reset it does the same thing (whether going in forward or reverse). Once it stops, I have to do a reset for it to move again (and then it will move only a few feet at most). I haven’t opened it up, but everything mechanical seems normal from the outside. Any thoughts on how to remedy? Should I just pack it up and send it back?
