Problem with Railking Freedom Train

My son was running the Freedom Train and it stopped on the track. I thought it was stuck in neutral and did the reset. That didn’t work. The engine states up proto sound works, when you decrease the power on the transformer to move it back up to make the train move the engine shuts off. Any suggestions. Thank you
