Don't play around and seek trouble. Update all remotes & all TIUs to the latest version of the DCS software.

Cloning does not update software. Get one remote set as you want it, with locos and softkeys per your desire. Then save the remote's data (which is not its software) to a computer and clone all other remotes from it.
