My top suspect would still be the battery, but if this is one that gets scrambled, not all of them can be fixed with the reset chip. You have to actually get an updated firmware chip from MTH to get them running. I believe the three clank error was the one that could be reset. I had the one clank issue, the reset didn't help that one.
