The reset switch that is available to the unwashed public is only for one specific issue, the three clanks when starting up.  If you have some other symptom, that's not what you need.

It's the 3-clanks at start up problem.  The QS-3000 manual says the slider switch is necessary for resetting; the little slider is missing on this locomotive so we tried bridging it with a bend paperclip, and followed the instructions.  Resetting it that way didn't work, and it seems like the reprogramming chip is the way to resolve it.  I did locate my reprogramming chip, so we can try that approach.  Where does one find a replacement slider switch?
