ps-1 reacting strangely

hi , I have a ps-1 2000 presidents special standard loco,,,,,i hadn't run it in along time,,,i knew it had the green battery,,so I put It on track and waited like 5 min ,then shut off and turned it back on,,,ran ok,,,ran it for like 5 min or so,,,,the next time I turned on the voltage,,it gave out 3 almost chugging sounds,then nothing,,,i had a spare bcr and put in ,same thing,,,,i have a new uncharged green battery,,,it dosnt do the 3 clangs of death,,,just that weird sounds,,,thanks for any help in advance,,,terry
