they can be tricky and can be locked into forward, neutral, or reverse. You really should read up on how to operate them.
Run the throttle up slowly to get around 8-10 volts or so (the lights should come on and then engine should start. Press the direction button and then raise the throttle to run it.
If you turn the throttle up to high at first, the engine won't move as it comes up in neutral. Lower the throttle and press the direction button.
Now the internal battery needs to be charged up to run good so you may have to leave the throttle up for a while to charge it before it will move.
