I have ACE/Darstead locos and also Lionel/MTH. When running the ACE locos I switch to a DC power supply. (If just light running I can use my HO power supply, otherwise my beefier "0"gauge one). I find the voltage doesn't go up that high under normal running conditions - haven't tried it "flat-out"!!
