Questions about military trains

So when you see one of those long military load trains rolling by I wonder how that load got loaded. When, lets say UP is moving a long train of tanks, humvee and what have you, how do they get that load? Is it loaded at a military base and then "picked up" by UP? Or is all the equipment transported by truck to a UP year for loading? Do military or UP personnel load them?

Please let me know what you know or point me somewhere, where I can find that info.
