Two years ago we stayed in a nondescript Mariott on the west side of Kingston, NY. Tracks right along the rear of the hotel. Plenty of trains to keep you up all night.

A favorite of mine, albeit much farther away, is the Notchland Inn, north of Bartlett, NH. It sits along the Conway Scenic RR as it runs up through Crawford Notch.
