totally compatible, that's why it's called the universal Railsounds power board. Works for 4.0, 4e, 5, 5.5, and even 6.

The shield over the inductor was just to reduce EMI/RFI.

The only caveat I know of is railsounds 3.0 must use 3.0 power supply because that entire system is unique.
