Lionel 682 Re-Assy of 6 wheel truck

I need some help in how to re-assemble the 6 wheel trucks on my Lionel 682 steam engine. I can't figure out how to insert the side clips. I bent them getting them out but I straightened them out but I am not having any luck. See photo of parts.
