I recall a photo of doubleheaded Northern Pacific 4-6-6-4's by Warren McGee (long-term NP employee and photographer). He noted that the 2nd locomotive was doing all the work and pushing the lead locomotive. Warren commented "There were fast engineers and slow engineers. The lead engineer was a slow one, and was pushed all the way to Livingston (MT)".
