Oh man Mike, that is a good one! I had to look up ROHS....I NEVER had to deal with any of that! Another sign of the times I guess.

Glad I am an old fart! Aaaahhh, for the "good old days" when we could slowly kill ourselves if we wanted to! I hope the OP got the info he need to buy a good soldering gun. Like John and others, that old 100/140 watt item with the nuts, is a great tool. I have mine from the '50's.

I bet I am not the only one to bend a piece of #10 or 12 bare copper in a pinch for a temporary tip, when the standard tip went to pieces! Greg
