Reply to "Repair copper winding recommendations postwar trucks?"

I am repairing a ton of post war trains and am working on a 2419 and 6419.
I noticed the copper winding was loose and thought maybe the solder broke, but alas I discovered the copper coil has snapped somewhere along the winding.  Completely unwinding and re-winding isn’t an option due to the complexity of threading it on every wind.

I see 2 ends of wire in the pic so that might be enough to get the coupler to work.  Put some power to both ends and see if it shorts or opens the coupler.  Otherwise working trucks like that are available to replace it.
