Replacing coupler on Atlas O scale RS1

I have an Atlas O scale RS1. I want to replace the factory installed couplers with Kadees. I have looked at prior posts on this forum for removing Atlas couplers, but they all seem to talk about popping the top coupler plate off the coupler on a car of some type. On the RS1 the coupler mount seems to be an integral unit. Do I have to destroy the mount to remover it? Or am I not seeing things clearly? Any suggestions and comments will be much appreciated.
