Reply to "UPDATED 11-20-2019 Rescuing a Fairmont "speeder" from the bushes!"

Here is an update on the progress on the rebuilding of the speeder.

Everything was disassembled down to every nut and bolt. Frame pieces were either sandblasted or replaced. New floor boards, running boards and the sides of the tunnel have been fabricated. Body pieces were stripped and repaired.

Now in the process of reassembling all the pieces to make sure that all the new pieces fit properly and all the holes belong where they should. After that, it is to be torn down and painted. Unlike when they originally built them, they assembled the car and then painted everything! So there was no paint between where metal pieces touched.

The engine has been completely torn down and being overhauled. Upon dissasembly found the engine to have been previously rebuilt. The piston rings were already .0020 over. So the engine has logged many a mile on it or possibly because of lack of maintanance. Should run like new after the rebuild.
